Kenznow Community

Kenznow Community is a living testimony of the bond people share with each other. No matter even if they are miles apart. It brings together students who are studying abroad on a platform where they can share their views, opinions and thoughts to the advantage of all the members of the Kenznow Community and the student fraternity across the world.

Initiative - Sound Your Voice

At Kenznow we have observed that there is one section of our International students and their parents who are finding themselves helpless with the Covid19. With the "Sound your Voice" initiative, we requested a few Kenznow students abroad to express their thoughts on Covid19 situation in their country of study for the larger benefit of students and their parents.

At Kenznow we are sure that if we collectively maintain social distancing, we shall tide over this situation.

How are you doing and coping up with the current situation?

Due to the current unfortunate situation, we mostly stay inside home. We got outside only to get essential items for home. Since I recently graduated and am waiting to start my job in May, I am idle and spend my time learning from online courses, interacting with my roommates, searching for better opportunities Over LinkedIn or trying to improve my cooking skills.

The current situation in your city and University campus?

Our college Drexel university and U Penn is very close by and heard some cases where some students from both universities got affected but hopefully they are fine. College buildings and all other facilities including gym, swimming area, outdoor playing coats are closed. Spring quarter classes are conducted live online.

Support system from the Government/University and your friends?

College is strict and is taking all precautionary measures to avoid such cases. They timely notify us via emails about current updates if there is any case found near our college. Even the career counselling ( final year students seeking jobs) is conducted virtually.

Any message for your fellow students abroad and parents back in India?

I know you all must be scared and worried but this shall pass too. Students should take care. One advice I would like to give is to not plan masters this Fall term but next session. There are too many layoffs that we keep on hearing on LinkedIn and we are facing issues in finding jobs. The inflation has come and it’s not the right time to invest so much for education in the United States. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

How are you doing and coping up with the current situation?

Situation is the same as every quarantined person. Locked in the home for days and only going out to get essentials. Playing card and board games with roommates and watching movies amongst other activities occasionally relieve the mind from boredom.

The current situation in your city and University campus?

Relatively less scary but still risky place to be in. University has been shut since weeks. Everything has been seamlessly moved online.

Support system from the Government/University and your friends?

No direct support from the Government or the Indian embassy apart from instruction emails to stay home, wash hands etc.

Any message for your fellow students abroad and parents back in India?

Since everyone is in the same situation as you are, don't fret about your career much. It's a global pandemic and any blip on your career path would be well understood by a sane person.

How are you doing and coping up with the current situation?

I have been in New Jersey since February 2020 and I work in New York City. The situation has turned upside down in the past few weeks/month. A street which was filled with people, is now filled with worries. I have been following social distancing guidelines and I am safe even being in the epicentre of this pandemic (NYC/NJ).

Any message for your fellow students abroad and parents back in India?

No matter where you are. Stay indoors. Use this time for all the things you were planning to do with your family. Use this time to learn new things online or cooking. Use this time to plan the next few years of your life. Stay indoors. Stay safe.

How are you doing and coping up with the current situation?

Lockdown is also been implemented in UK. Locked in home since a month and i go out only to get essential goods and medicines ( if required). I study from home since the university is closed, preparing for the exams assignment, watching movies, spending time with roommates having some talks and casual discussion, preparing some good foods to get my self some relief.

The current situation in your city and University campus?

Situation here is getting worse day by day, but nothing to fear about unless your take really good care and prevention measures for yourself.

Support system from the Government/University and your friends?

Indian Embassy are working to get back their students who are stuck in UK but no message from them since long but keep a hope, because everything will be fine.

Any message for your fellow students abroad and parents back in India?

Do not panic more about your career and studies because this is the same situation that everyone is facing all over the world, just make sure you complete your things and assignment as per the dates, and the deadlines are been postponed for some week ahead. And take preventive measures to keep you and your surrounding safe.
